Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Laboratory Researcher IV for Food Innovation Center – Analytical Chemistry. The position works at the FIC-Chemistry facility located on the Rutgers New Brunswick Campus in the Food and Nutritional Sciences Building. The position reports to the Laboratory Director.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Prepares samples for chemical analysis, performs sample intake and cataloging, and performs routine chemical experiments.
Organizes analytical data and assists in complex, specialized experiments.
Conducts, as necessary and independently, routine GC-MS and HPLC-MS analysis of samples according to laboratory protocols.
Maintains clean and safe conditions in the laboratory, keeping samples organized and walkways and benchtops free of debris and clutter.
Ensures projects are completed in a timely manner in adherence to schedules and that all work is completely consistently and at high standards.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Food Science, or allied field.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience with basic bench chemistry techniques and practices (pipetting, liquid/liquid extraction, centrifugation, pH measurement, etc.).
Ability to multi-task and undertake several projects simultaneously in order to complete projects in a timely manner.
Ability to work independently when conducting routine analyses and follow written or verbal instructions.
1-2 years of relevant professional experience working in a laboratory technician function, excellent communication skills, and computer literacy.
