70% The technician will be expected to be involved in animal set up for imaging of mice, rats and rabbits including, animal anesthesia, preparation of single cell suspensions from tumor tissue, intraperitoneal/Subcutaneous injection of hydration solutions to the animal, animal tail vein catheterization, tumor immobilization and urethral cannulation.
20% Placement of the animal in various imaging resonators for electron paramagnetic resonance imaging and cell culture.
10% Organize data for presentation in weekly lab meetings. Development of new protocols. Â Generate written manuscripts of findings for publications. Provides technical and administrative support for a research project.
Collects and enters data. Assists in analyzing data. Assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.
Assists with the installation, sets up and performs experiments; interacting with students and other laboratory staff under the direction of the principal investigator.
May assist recruiting and scheduling research subjects; assisting with developing or amending study protocols; assisting with developing data collection tools; assisting with building databases; and providing general administrative support. Is developing skills in research techniques or methods, regulatory policies and procedures, and relevant scientific field.
Performs other related work as needed.
Bachelor's degree or higher in related field such as biology, bioengineering, chemistry or Physics.
Â knowledge of biology, chemistry, or physics.
Working with animal such as mouse.
Basic computer knowledge is required (e.g. familiarity with EXCEL and MS Word, etc.).
Working with animals and physiological measurements, e.g., EKG, blood pressure, core temperature.
Interest in learning simple MATLAB script creation.
