Perform duties to ensure the reliable operation of SCADA and Distribution Automation.
Essential Job Functions:
Independently performs installations, inspections, tests, calibrates, repairs and maintains solid state and microprocessor relays, power quality instruments, regulator controls, capacitor bank controls, and other protection and control equipment.
Frequently tests, repairs and troubleshoots SCADA and automation equipment, including, but not limited to, RTUs, PLCs, relays and communication systems.
Must be able to read AC and DC electrical drawing and understand control logic sufficient for trouble shooting.
Must have a general understanding of RF propagation and be able to demonstrate competence in Boolean Logic.
Assists in the installation, maintenance and development of the SCADA system and all related equipment.
Must have the ability to perform networking configuration task and assist Engineering and IT with networking schemes where concern for cyber and physical security in a SCADA environment is critical.
Reviews, under indirect guidance, specifications of newly acquired equipment and subsequently performs check-outs and verifications of quality and quantity in order to make recommendations concerning equipment acceptability.
Must be able to interpret and translate data points from various communication protocols including DNP3 and Modbus.
Occasionally designs, fabricates, and implements components and materials for specialty use applications.
Must have knowledge of three-phase power systems, OSHA regulations and Tri-County safety rules necessary to perform switching and other job tasks.
Must also know and be able to apply CPR/first aid techniques.
Perform any and all other functions and requirements of the position as may be needed from time to time as deemed necessary by System Operations Manager.
High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
Demonstration of understanding in electricity and electronics.
Experience in the electronic field with an electric utility or equivalent is highly desired.
Must have or be able to attain a valid Texas driver’s license.
Vision of or correctable to 20/20

Work Conditions: Work is performed in all weather conditions. Field work may include accessing both public and private property to access equipment. Will work in areas with fumes from paints and solvents. Will be exposed to electrical and mechanical hazards, as well as hazards present in a work zone.
