Rochester Public Utilities, a division of the City of Rochester, Minnesota (pop. 116,000+), is the largest municipal utility in the State of Minnesota and is accepting applications for the position of Meter and Service Technician, who is responsible for installing, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining water and electric revenue meters and related service equipment to ensure that they are operating accurately, as well as reading and interpreting metering system data and equipment to ensure meter accuracy. Primary assignments include single-phase and poly-phase electric metering as well as troubleshooting load management equipment and power quality investigations. Additional responsibilities include coordinating with others to ensure that the daily functions of meter reading and service disconnects/reconnects are performed in a timely manner.

Minimum qualifications include
A high school diploma or equivalent GED and completion of an approved Meter Technician apprenticeship program including associated exam;
OR *A high school diploma or equivalent G.E.D. and three 3 years' electrical experience;
OR *A high school diploma or equivalent G.E.D. and completion of a two-year electrical/water trade school program.
*Completion of RPU's Meter Technician apprenticeship program and associated exam, within four and one-half (4.5) years as a condition of continued employment.
Licenses and Certifications Valid driver's license
Additional Salary Information: 2021 Starting Rate of Pay
$34.77/hr, with advancement to $43.46/hr, after four and one-half (4.5) years.
