We are seeking a talented Senior Electrical Engineer to join our expanding Engineering team.
In this role, you will be responsible product development and product engineering activities, specifically in the area of electrical engineering. Leads design, models, documents, tests, and modifies current and new components and sub-systems. Contributes to specific assignments and performs work which requires application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria of related engineering activities.
Principal (Essential) Duties:
Engineer detailed designs, perform analyses, test prototypes, and document completed designs
Develop design solutions and participate in preparing design concepts
Develop problem solving techniques to determine root causes for problems, propose solutions, and perform validation
Use hands-on approach for coordinating, building and evaluating prototypes
Review, model, analyze, and test to ensure the success of assigned projects • Participate in reviewing functional specifications, cost targets, and electrical design requirements
May generate functional specifications, cost targets, and electrical design requirements
Work with intra and inter-functional groups to optimize design and communication capabilities; work with external customers, suppliers and subcontractors, depending upon project and program activities
Coordinate, submit and release design information to be documented for production
Support the development of manufacturing test procedures and test equipment
Investigate and solve reported manufacturing and service issues
May function as a team leader, coordinating requirements, schedule, and budget; and provide project leader with status updates
Lead development of enhanced Engineering processes, particularly related to electrical engineering
May lead a team of electrical engineers and technicians in the definition, implementation and delivery of tasks
May provide coaching and mentoring of electrical team as needed
Knowledge of computers to operative effectively with Microsoft Office Suite of applications
Good analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Good interpersonal skills; strong relationship building skills
Strong organizational skills; attention to detail
Proficient with electronic hand tools and basic instrumentation
Ability to operate instrumentation including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, etc.
Can lead design and certification for regulatory needs, including safety and environmental
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field required
Master's degree is preferred
Minimum of eight (8) years directly related and progressively responsible experience
Extensive experience in the field may be substituted for education requirements
Experience with electrical design of electro-mechanical systems
Experience with electrical CAD software – Altium preferred
Experience with electrical analysis and simulation tools e.g. Altium, MATLAB, etc. preferred
Experience with PCB design and layout of analog and digital systems
Experience with high speed digital and video wiring design
Experience with electronics packaging principles
Experience with prototyping cables and reworking PCBs
Experience designing portable power systems – battery systems and chargers
Knowledge of sensing and vision technologies, including FPAs preferred
Knowledge of illumination technologies preferred
Experience with embedded control and application firmware design preferred
Experience with FPGA logic design preferred
Experience with high level programming languages, e.g. Python, C#, LabView preferred
Ability to select and integrate computers and computer peripherals, including biometric devices & displays
Knowledge using PDM solutions such as PDM-Pro and Sharepoint
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to:
See and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity; standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching and other similar tasks requiring physical activity and repetitive motions
Visual requirement is for close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus
Operate a computer and other similar office equipment, as well as specialized scientific equipment and related tools. 50% or more time is spent looking directly at a computer
Perform medium work - exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds of force frequently
Ability to deal with stressful situations as they arise
Travel both domestically and internationally up to 10% of time representing ChemImage
Work setting is primarily office-based but conditions may involve limited exposure to chemicals, emitted radiation, fumes, dust, odors, gases and other substances when in a laboratory or field environment. Employees whose work setting may involve these substances will be informed by their managers regarding the nature of these substances and may request PPE as necessary.
The noise level in the work environment is generally low to moderate with isolated areas requiring hearing protection
Must adhere to all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) policies as required
