This will be a full-time position for a candidate who enjoys working in a dynamic environment to support the 24/7/365 operation of the Department substations and distribution systems. The candidate would be responsible for maintaining and installing all associated electric, electronic and switching equipment in the electric, gas and distribution system within or outside of normal working hours for the purpose of reliable and safe power distribution. The ideal candidate will: ·Test circuits and components of substation and distribution equipment to identify sources of malfunctions, using test meters, circuit diagrams, various test equipment such as transformer turns ration testers, micro-ohm meters, power factor test sets, and other diagnostic equipment. · Repair or replace equipment using various hand and power tools. · Remove and remake wiring connections as necessary, following work orders or diagrams. · Analyze test readings, computer printouts, and trouble reports to determine equipment repair needs and required repair methods. · Install or program software in protective and control devices in the substation and distribution system and test for functionality. · Install, maintain, repair and test substation and distribution system equipment including but not limited to switch gear, controls, relays, transformers, reclosers, circuit breakers and indicating meters. The ideal candidate must have 3 years’ experience related to electric substation relaying and metering and the skills required to calibrate and test said devices. The candidate needs to have knowledge of all types of system meters, protective relays, substation controls, SCADA, distribution field equipment such as reclosers, capacitor controls and similar equipment manufactured by companies such as Beckwith, Cooper, Schweitzer etc. Eligible candidates must have a valid driver’s license and pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and a Criminal Offender Record Inquiry (CORI) with the State of Massachusetts. |
