The technician's duty is (1) to maintain, calibrate, and repair instruments in shared Center for Aerosol Science and Engineering (CASE) facility, and (2) to work with postdocs, graduate students, and/or research technicians in Dr. Axelbaum and Dr. Wang’s labs in performing research.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain, calibrate, and repair aerosol instruments/equipment in the shared CASE facility, updating drawings and documentation. Provide training to students/users on the operation of instruments/equipment.
Help develop scientific instrumentation and measurement techniques that include flows, heat, electronics, and imaging. Work with postdoc, graduate students, and/or research technicians in performing research. Operate equipment and instruments. Maintain facilities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Master’s degree plus two to four years of experience working as a mechanic, engineer, or a related field.
Motivation to learn new things.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently, communicate with laboratory members, and maintain organized records/reports.
Excellent technical competence, hands on perspective.
General instrumentation skills, such as data acquisition, electrical wiring, and programming.
General computer skills, such as word processing, Excel, etc.
Use of basic computer programs.
Equivalent combination of education and experience equaling five years in a related field or a bachelor’s degree and one year of related experience.
Applicant Special Instructions:
Occasional working with heavy equipment.
Occasional exposure to chemicals and hot surfaces.

This position is full-time and works approximately 37.5 hours per week.
The hiring range for this position is $14.07 - $18.99 per hour.
