TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I , Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research , to support an interdisciplinary and dynamic team--based in the Langer Lab --with the development of biomedical devices for novel ingestible electronics systems for drug release and monitoring in the gastrointestinal tract. The project is a collaborative effort bringing teams together from MIT and Harvard Medical School. The work is challenging, multifaceted, multidisciplinary, and provides a broad overview of current state-of-the-art translational research. Key responsibilities will include circuit board design, electronics assembly and fabrication, device characterizations, and programming (instruments control, micro-controller, user-interface writing, phone apps, etc.). General responsibilities include accurate recording and maintenance of procedures and results; ordering reagents to conduct experiments; working with postdoctoral associates, technicians, and undergraduate students; analyzing and documenting experimental protocols; and laboratory upkeep.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : a B.S./B.A. in a relevant field; background in electrical or mechanical engineering; at least two years' specialized lab experience (may include experience gained as an undergraduate); experience working with and maintaining technical instruments/equipment; comfort summarizing and reporting results to researchers; demonstrated problem-solving skills and commitment to exceeding quality standards and producing accurate and high-quality work; strong organizational, time-management, and communication skills; practiced documentation skills; willingness to learn new tools/techniques; and awareness of basic safety issues and ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment. Must be able to multitask and organize multiple experiments/work assignments simultaneously, learn quickly, and work independently and as part of a team. PREFERRED : experience with electronic circuit board design, programming, fabrication, and characterization; and familiarity with wireless device communications/control and clean room fabrication.
