The Ghobrial Lab at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute is comprised of talented and motivated scientists focused on the exploration and navigation of hematological malignancies, namely Multiple Myeloma and Waldenström Macroglobulinemia. We are seeking to expand our team in the form of a Lab Technician.

The role of The Lab Technician serves a very important and critical role in the flow of the laboratory’s research. Responsibilities of the role include:

• Follows optimized protocols to process peripheral blood and bone marrow from patients with multiple myeloma on designated clinical trials and tissue banking protocols
• Capable of operating advanced, liquid handling machinery as it pertains to specimen processing and sample preparation
• Assists research fellows with various next-generation sequencing experiments using multiple myeloma cell lines and patient samples
• Attends lab meetings and actively participates in communicating updates on sample intake for various protocols
• Maintains accurate electronic and physical sample inventories to maintain organization of clinical trial and tissue banking cohorts
• Operates computer programs associated with sample labeling, storage and shipping
• Prepares reagents and stocks
• Adheres to standard laboratory safety measures

Qualifications Required:

• Bachelor's Degree required with a major in biology or chemistry preferred
• Knowledge of information and techniques related to either biology, chemistry, or medicine is preferred
• Must have excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and be able to work with a wide variety of faculty and staff
• Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work-related issues and problems
• Excellent attention to detail
• Basic mathematic skillset
• Ability to work within a team environment
