JOB SUMMARY:

Glenview Park Golf Club, a facility of the Glenview Park District, is seeking an experienced, talented and highly motivated Mechanic to join our Golf Maintenance department. The Mechanic is an essential part of our maintenance team reporting directly to the Golf Course Superintendent. The candidate must have a team-oriented attitude and take pride in the golf course conditions we provide at Glenview Park Golf Club. In addition, the Mechanic must prioritize safety and maintain a clean service area.

JOB DUTIES TO INCLUDE:

Inspects, maintains and repairs all mowing equipment including but not limited to the following: Reel Mowers, Rotary Mowers, Tractors, Utility carts, 2-cycle power equipment, heavy & light duty trucks and all other equipment. Preventive maintenance, on-going blade & reel sharpening, and safety inspections of all equipment are critical functions of this position
Ensure quality of cut by inspecting mower performance daily
Completes setup of all equipment in preparation for future use
Guide fellow golf maintenance staff members to assist with preventative maintenance, proper cleaning and safe operation of all equipment
Develop preventative maintenance schedules and maintenance records on all equipment
Document all repairs
Participates in Total Property Management (TPM) when required. Duties include snow and ice removal, general building maintenance, irrigation system repairs and other mechanical repairs as required
Keeps all work areas clean and organized

QUALIFICATIONS:

At least 5 years’ relevant experience preferred
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair various types of equipment
Demonstrated ability to be resourceful and innovative while performing daily responsibilities
Possess ample computer skills to effectively navigate various forms of electronic communication i.e. Email, MS Office products and virtual meeting platforms
Professional certification(s) and/or active membership in a professional association desirable
Associate’s degree in mechanic work or related field required. Will consider significant experience in lieu of formal education
Participate in cross functional teams as required
Must be at least 21 years old. Valid Illinois driver’s license required

About Glenview Park Golf Club

The Glenview Park Golf Club is an 18-hole public golf course located in the north shore of Chicago in the Glenview community. The club was originally named Chesterfield Golf Course and was designed by Joseph A. Roseman in 1920. In 1955, the Glenview Park District purchased the course and began operating it as the Glenview Park Golf Club. In 2015, the club completed a major course renovation lead by Rick Jacobson along with major renovations to the clubhouse. The entire property is 110 acres, the course sees roughly 38,000 rounds annually. Greens, Tees, and Fairways are all bentgrass playing surfaces. Although we are a public facility, the course conditions are maintained to private club standards.
