Position plans, organizes, gives direction and assists in administrative and managerial aspects of clinical operations of the Siteman Cancer Center.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directs and supervises medical assistants and patient care technicians to assure quality clinical patients care, proper utilization of staff and enhance patient and physician satisfaction.
Monitors and directs patient flow throughout the day and makes “just-in-time” staffing adjustments to best meet the needs of patients and the organization.
Plans and participates in the recruitment, selection and retention of quality staff. Interviews and hires applicants. Educates/trains new and existing staff to assure competence in all clinical and support functions. Promotes teamwork and a spirit of cooperation amongst the Siteman Medical Assistant staff in support of each other and all stake holders including patients, physicians, nurses and patient service representatives.
Supervises the clinical performance provided by medical assistant staff and actively coaches and counsels staff to exceed expectations. Conducts performance evaluations and oversees work schedules and time records.
Maintains competence as a Medical Assistant and is proficient in all job duties performed by the Siteman Cancer Center Medical Assistant Staff.
Serves as a liaison between the center and physicians/clinical teams to assure the coordination of services, allocation of resources, regulatory compliance and efficient quality patient care.
Serves as a patient advocate and handles patient’s complaints/concerns with immediate response and action.
Assists Manager/Administrator with a variety of administrative duties including development and implementation of policies and procedures and the review and revision of job descriptions.
Alerts Manager/Clinic Administrator and/or Medical Director to potential risk management issues involved in outpatient care. Responsible for compliance with all current patient rights and informed consent issues in outpatient area.
Monitors supply inventory to assure the availability of needed supplies and the maintenance of appropriate inventory levels. Assures maintenance and repair of clinical equipment.
High school diploma or equivalent high school certification with five years of related experience; if order entry in the electronic medical record is part of the job’s responsibilities, Registered/Certified Medical Assistant or successfully achieve Medical Assistant registration/certification or pass assessment-based recognition (ABR) exam within six months of hire date or within a shorter time frame if noted by hiring manager.
Associate or Bachelor’s degree.
Communication, organizational and supervisory skills.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
At least two year of supervisory or leadership experience in an outpatient healthcare setting.
Basic Life Support certification.
Current MA certification/registration through an approved professional organization such as AMT, AAMA or NHA.
The hiring range for this position is $43,326 - $54,204 annually.
