The ideal candidate for Optical Senior Test Stations Software Engineer will have significant software design experience in the development of automated manufacture and test stations. Experience should be in the telecom, optical, or similar industry. This developer will join a small team of highly experienced software, hardware, and optical design engineers working on many aspects of the production station code. He or she must be able to clearly communicate with peers, product management, process engineers, and technicians. The position requires taking a lead role in the overall station development process for multiple stations and mentoring colleagues in our China factory with a potential role growth.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Designs, develops and deploys software solutions for various manufacturing processes
Manages post-deployment bug fixing and feature requests.
Ownership of Station SW process improvement to adopt best practice and improve code quality for the team
Communicates issues and solutions when problems arise
Manages station SW release schedule
Documents processes via flowcharts, diagrams, as well as through code comments
Creates reusable libraries
Designs software that communicates with data bases (SQL knowledge is a plus)
Writes drivers for manufacturing equipment such as motion controllers, light meters,
Optical Spectrum Analyzers, etc.
Prototyping and estimation
Produces detailed specifications
Supports process engineers by interpreting station output data on product issues
Performs application testing before deployment
Travel to Asia may be required at some time in the future
Ability to prioritize, negotiate & manage SW releases
Optical and Electrical Components Procurement to support new product development and manage Critical US vendors for production
Coordinate the interactions between supply chain, operations, engineering and data analyst to ensure smooth product flow
Ensure guaranteed continuity of supply for NPI, scaling & volume-manufacture of complex optical products
Ensure vendor quality, score-cards and audits
Manage supply chain in response to forecast demands for products in the NPI stage and ensure a smooth transition of parts into volume manufacturing
Manage key vendor relationships
Develop and recommend suppliers for R&D project
Ensure and assist R&D project milestones are met and adhering the approved budget
The experience you will bring.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Physical Sciences
Experience and strong expertise and ease working in enterprise resource planning systems (i.e. Experience working in SAP and/or EPICOR)
5 years of product development experience in optical or electronic industries
2 years procurement experience in procurement role or equivalent
Ability to create new processes and improve existing systems
A fundamental and deep understanding of supply chain, vendor management and quality tracking
Strong quantitative skills with expertise in Excel and inventory software
Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced company environment with minimal direction and ability to adjust workload based upon changing priorities
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written skills to work in a collaborative cross-cultural environment
