Hoxworth Blood Center in Cincinnati, OH is part of the University of Cincinnati and has provided care to the region for decades. We are a nonprofit, community organization providing blood components, clinical and technical services to hospitals, physicians and patients and serving as a center for education and research.
The Laboratories Division of Hoxworth Blood Center seeks a Biomedical Specialist. The ideal candidate, working with the Manager of Biomedical Engineering, assures that organizational processes, procedures, and quality control activities are compliant with accreditation and regulatory standards. The successful candidate will perform the following activities:
Performs organizational equipment validation, requalification, and quality control in accordance with accepted standards and regulations for major critical storage and non-storage equipment
Provides organizational support for preventive maintenance and calibrations on storage equipment and devices
Supports management with all equipment related investigations, repairs, installations, validations, requalifications, documentation, and record management and retention
Assists with organizational quality and variance programs
Adhere to good manufacturing practices (GMP) guidelines.
Maintain technical competency to cover equipment quality control as needed
Assist Manager with recognizing, monitoring and evaluating technical, instrumental or physical conditions or problems
Assist in developing new technologies, training and maintenance processes
Assist with monitoring and evaluating QC related procedures
Assist with establishing and maintaining equipment SOPs as needed
Assist in the further developing a centralized equipment management program ensuring compliance with current standards and regulations
Supports Hoxworth Blood Center’s safety, cGMP and Quality Plan
Associates degree with three (3) years of experience; -OR five (5) years of experience.
Degree must be in Electronics, Computer Science, or related field.
Experience must be in a specialized instrumentation area.
This position will be a professional position paid at an hourly rate.
