The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a qualified Research MRI Technician to join the team to work in the multi-modal imaging facility for in vivo and ex vivo animal imaging with micro-MRI, micro-CT/SPECT/PET, ultrasound, bioluminescent and fluorescent animal imaging, as well as ultrasound-guided microinjection in live animals.
The Research Technician will be mainly responsible for performing in vivo and ex vivo MRI scanning for animals and tissue samples. In addition, this technician will be assisting users on research projects involving the imaging modality, assisting with animal preparation, and post-imaging data processing and analysis. The Research Technician will also need to assist with equipment and facility maintenance, repairs, daily QC (quality control), as well as supply and reagent management.
This candidate must be able to get inside the high magnetic field with no metal implants or pacemaker, be willing to work with live animals and handle animal tissues, and possess knowledge of animal physiology, biology, electronics, and computers. Previous MRI experience, in particular, animal imaging and animal procedure, is essential. Proficiency in Matlab and C programing are preferred. Experiences with Bruker systems and Para Vision platforms are highly desirable.
Master's degree preferred.
