Department: University Airport Summary of Duties: Maintains all electronic equipment for aviation communication and navigation; performs installation of aircraft and aircraft components, including communication and navigation systems, flight controls, flight instruments, and various avionics equipment; performs aircraft avionics repair and maintenance to include troubleshooting, inspection, operational test, repair, modification and replacement or rewiring of complex avionics/electrical systems and subsystems discrepancies and modifications; repairs radios and other navigational equipment following standards set by industry business partners; assists the Aircraft Avionics Supervisor in completing daily operations in the maintenance and avionics shop. Additional Information: This is a DOT identified safety-sensitive position, and subject to DOT pre-employment drug testing prior to being hired AND DOT random drug testing while employed in this position. Required Qualifications: Considerable experience in the maintenance and repair of electronic and navigational equipment; FAA Airframe & Powerplant License and/or FAA Repairman Certificate with certificate privileges of 14CFR Section 65.103 valid for installation, testing, final inspection, and returning to service of radio and limited instruments pertaining to work performed for which the repair station is rated while employed by The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio certificate number IKBR028F; this is a DOT identified safety-sensitive position, and candidate will be subject to DOT random drug testing while employed in this position.
