Assists the department management in the handling of the insurance programs and claims and provides general support for office operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with first reports and processing of new claims. Create claims documents and records where appropriate.
Documents and communicates claim activity timely and effectively and in a manner which supports the outcome of the claim file. Complete assigned work via diaries and work queues in a timely manner.
Assist with coding and coding audit of various claims.
Assist with processing and payment of claims related invoices.
Assist with review of loss runs and preparation of various claims reports and claims dashboards for senior management.
Manages, organizes and retains insurance claims records (electronic files), invoices, submissions and databases.
Liaisons between internal and external customers, insurance carriers, and brokers to support the daily administration of claims arising from various insurance programs. Addresses and resolves all requests and issues timely and efficiently.
Manage various special projects for claims managers.
Maintains office services by organizing office operations including procurement of equipment and supplies, organizing and coordinating meetings, and various other clerical functions.
No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position. May provide informal assistance such as technical guidance, and/or training to coworkers. May coordinate and assign tasks to co-workers within a work unit and/or project.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree with major in finance, accounting or risk management. Equivalent practical claims department experience.
Two years within a risk management environment or insurance company or brokerage claims department preferred.
CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES
None required. Insurance designations/certifications a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to multitask and adapt to change in a fast-paced environment. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to internal and external clients. Ability to effectively present information.
Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires intermediate analytical and quantitative skills.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES
Proficient in use of Microsoft Office required. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills strongly preferred. Experience with Internet and on-line RMIS data systems and/or carrier claims systems a plus. Understanding of processes and procedures within the insurance market and the impact this has on the claims process is ideal.

Decisions made with understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines. Responsible for setting own project deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to co-workers and supervisor.
