Meter and Service Technician – Journey Rochester Public Utilities
RPU, a division of the City of Rochester, MN, is the largest municipal utility in the State of Minnesota. RPU serves over 55,000 electric customers and 40,000 water customers in a 57 square mile service area, and has revenues nearing $178 million annually.

Nature of Work This is a technical position responsible for troubleshooting, testing, installing, and maintaining water and electric revenue meters and related service equipment to ensure that they are operating accurately as well as reading and interpreting metering system data and equipment to ensure meter accuracy. Primary assignments in this position include water metering and single/poly phase electric metering as well as troubleshooting load management equipment and power quality investigations
*Journey Meter Technician: $35.16/hr, with advancement to $41.37/hr, after 18 months.
*To be eligible for this starting rate, candidates must have successfully completed an approved Electric Metering Apprenticeship Program.
Education and Experience A high school diploma or equivalent GED and completion of an approved Electric Metering apprenticeship program
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience Licensed Journey or Maintenance Electrician Associates degree in Electronic Technology, or in an area related to the electrical trades. Experience in single/polyphase electric revenue metering. Experience with reading and interpreting meter data and equipment.
Additional Salary Information: To be eligible for this starting rate, candidates must have successfully completed an approved Electric Metering Apprenticeship Program.
