Handles customer requests and problems relating to residential and commercial electric service. Works with electricians, developers, architects, and engineers on service installation planning.
Designs high and low voltage electric distribution facilities based on customer needs and system work plans. Calculates customer load needs.
Coordinates activities, provides written and oral correspondence with customers, contractors, developers, electricians, construction crews, area foreman, and other utilities.
Proficient in the design, construction and maintenance practices of the electric distribution system. Knowledgeable in the applicable electric construction specifications and codes including NESC and RUS specifications.
Obtains utility easements and right-of-way permits.
Performs field design work and stakes construction routes. Writes construction work orders. Prepares field staking sheets. Makes cost estimates.
Draws and updates electric distribution facility maps, circuit diagrams, and equipment drawings using computer-aided drafting and GIS(Geographic information system) software.
Maintains engineering database records related to customers, facilities, equipment, maintenance, work orders, document indexing, scanning and view technologies.
Performs engineering studies relating to voltage drop, line loading, maintenance, etc. Performs field inspections.
Performs other duties and activities as may be assigned from time to time.
4 year degree in Engineering, Ag Systems, Construction Management
2 or 3-year degree in GIS, electrical or electronics technology
Experience or training in electric power distribution
Experience with GIS,CAD,and database type software
