Fire Protection Water-Based (formerly Automatic Sprinkler System)
The Facilities Planning and Management department at Iowa State University seeks applicants for a Systems Control Technician who will apply knowledge and skills to inspect, install, maintain and repair life safety systems in university buildings. This position will use specialized electronic equipment, schematics, and blue prints to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair systems. This position will consult and inspect contractor’s installation of life safety equipment to ensure proper installation in regard to university policies, procedures, and safety regulations. Also responsible for annual certification of all buildings to ensure proper operation of evacuation equipment.
The successful candidate will have the ability to troubleshoot a variety of complex issues relating to life safety systems; work on a team; and communicate with a variety of individuals.
- NICET Level II or higher certification
- Experience certifying fire protection systems.
- Experience working with various fire protection electronics
- Experience installing fire protection systems
- Experience with fire sprinkler systems and suppression types.
