Responsible for drafting the annual operational budget request excluding that for service contracts. Responsible for all operational aspects of the medical equipment scheduled maintenance program. Provides direct maintenance support of Medical Equipment and related systems including project planning, project management, technician training, and user training.Duties & Responsibilities:Manage the daily implementation of the medical equipment preventive maintenance programManage multiple medical equipment related replacement, upgrade, installation, or repair projects.Supervise highly skilled Biomedical Equipment Technicians from entry level BMET 1 through BMET Supervisor.Manage multiple departmental processes to ensure compliance to federal, state, and local policy and procedures as well as developing the operational budget.This position reports to the Director of Clinical Engineering and is responsible for the daily operations of the department in support of more than 20,000 items of medical equipment. This position will be responsible for the day-to-day implementation of the medical equipment scheduled maintenance program required and audited by federal, state, and local authorities under the general direction of the department director. Failure to comply with these regulations has severe implications to patient safety and financial reimbursement for the hospital.REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology and a minimum of 6 years of active experience working in the BMET field in a hospital setting, and at least one of those years in a supervisory role. Equivalent experience may substitute for degree requirement.Additional requirements:
Completion of a qualified Biomedical Equipment Technician training program is preferred.
Must have a strong grasp of basic medical terminology.
Previous experience designing and modifying MS Access queries and reports preferred.
Solid understanding of underlying principles of physics, chemistry, hydraulics, light, and sound
A strong grasp of electronics, microprocessors, mechanical and electromechanical methods
A strong working knowledge of computer networking and network security methods is preferred.
Must have or be able to quickly acquire a working knowledge of clinical applications of all medical equipment supported.
Demonstrated ability to accurately acquire basic competency on new technologies or makes of equipment through self-study of manufacturer's documentation and other sources.
Routinely exercises logical, progressive trouble shooting techniques at the systems level.
