We need a meticulous, tactical, professional transportation expert to serve as our Fleet Operations Director at our Mason, Michigan, headquarters.

This is a new position, and it’s an exciting opportunity. Our private trucking fleet of approximately 350 tractors and 1,200 trailers needs a leader to manage the strategy and growth of the fleet, developing vital operating strategies to use the fleet to our competitive advantage. The Director will be responsible for fleet operating strategy, safety and compliance, driver retention, and equipment purchasing and maintenance. We’ll rely on you to keep the trucks moving and keep them full.

Core Skills and Qualifications:
The ideal Fleet Operations Director candidate must possess all of the following:
Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Business, Supply Chain, Transportation/Logistics or related field of study
Seven (7) years of experience in a leadership role in fleet operations
Three (3) years of experience in revenue generations through direct sales or backhaul revenue generation in the trucking industry
Three (3) years of supervisory experience with strong leadership and management skills
Thorough knowledge and understanding of FMCSA regulations
Demonstrated knowledge of trucking operations and DOT safety regulations
Proven track record and experience managing trucking company profit and loss (P&L)
Three (3) years of experience working with Transportation Management Systems and Electronic Logging Devices (MercuryGate and/or Omnitracs, preferred)
Ability to travel up to 60% of the time domestically
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license
Favorable motor vehicle report upon hire
Ability to obtain and maintain freight broker license
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
Transportation Professional (CTP) Certification
Certified Director of Safety (CDS)
Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician Certification (OHST)
Ten (10) years of experience working in the trucking fleet industry
Experience working in private fleet
