The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a qualified Research Technician for performing multi-modal mouse pre-clinical imaging research projects. Excellent environment for pre-med candidates.
This candidate must be able to get inside the high magnetic field with no metal implants or pacemakers and with enough physical agility to handle equipment. The incumbent must be willing to work with live animals and handle animal tissues and possess knowledge of animal physiology, anatomy, neuroscience, developmental biology, basic electronics, and computers. Experience with handling mouse breeding colony, tail DNA, and genotyping preferred. The incumbent should have the ability to multitask, good manual skills to handle small objects, and a good personality. This position requires a high degree of attention to detail. Results must be accurate. Organization and timeliness are key. Previous laboratory experience, in particular, animal imaging and molecular and wet bench work, preferred. 2-year commitment. TB test, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and FBI Criminal Record Check will be required as a condition of employment.
Bachelor's degree in biology, biomedical engineering, pharmacology, or related fields preferred. Previous experience in animal imaging preferred. Lab and research experiences with animal procedures or mouse MRI preferred.
