Rutgers School of Dental Medicine (RSDM) is currently seeking a Billing Technician for Rutgers University Dental Associates. Carries out a variety of services related to patient insurance account management in assigned sections of Rutgers University Dental Associates. Performs patient third party billing for Medicaid, Medicaid HMO, Medicare, Commercial insurance and electronic claims submission.
Prepares and submits insurance company forms with appropriate codes and fees to ensure optimal billing submissions and collections.
Prepares patient payment plans to establish financial responsibility and ensures timely collection.
Provides follow-up on incorrect and/or incomplete reimbursement.
Functions as liaison with patients and various insurance carriers; provides follow-up to maximize cooperation, effectiveness and collections.
Identifies accounts to be turned over to outside collection agencies.
Maintains log of Explanation of Benefits and pending insurance inquiries.
Reviews electronic claims validation reports, identifies problems in data submission and contacts preparer of source documents to resolve questions, inconsistencies or missing data.
Provides Program Administrator with data concerning insurance billing for reports.
Understands and adheres to Rutgers compliance standards.
Minimum Education and Experience:
At least three (3) years of prior dental office/clerical experience, including two (2) years of dental insurance/electronic claims submission.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be PC literate and proficient in dental software systems.
Excellent customer service skills.
