Summary: Reporting to the Director of Safety and Security, the Safety and Security Network Administrator is responsible for monitoring, repairing, maintaining, and optimizing all Safety and Security electronic systems at Harvard Art Museums locations in Cambridge and Somerville, MA. The Network Administrator is the lead technician for all safety and security electronic systems at the Harvard Art Museums and provides a key element in maintaining a safe and secure environment. The Network Administrator provides operational support and expertise for all systems which enhance the safety and security of the visitors, staff, collections, and facilities of the Harvard Art Museums.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Director of Safety and Security and other staff and departments to optimize all safety and security electronic systems. Assess systems requirements and recommend improvements as necessary in order to ensure safety or compliance standards.
Provide maintenance, oversee routine testing, and monitor all safety and security electronic systems, equipment, and related databases and equipment including: Fire & Life Safety Equipment; Electronic Access Control System; Intrusion Detection System; Panic/Duress Alarm System; Video Surveillance System and Artwork Protections System.
Maintain and update software service agreements.
Oversee the installation and maintenance of security systems and servers.
Assist with monitoring accurate budget for safety and security electronic systems maintenance and repair.
Schedule service from outside vendors when repair/maintenance cannot be completed in-house; monitoring vendor performance. Gather estimates as necessary.
Liaise with HUIT, HUPD, Fire Group, other Harvard Art Museums and University departments on related projects and support.
Under the direction of Collections Management department install RFID tags.
Manage authorized access of Art Museum facilities through the physical access control system, including regular audits and reviews to keep clearances up to date.
Create scheduled, and ad hoc reports to validate reliability and current status of security systems.
Maintain accurate records of all systems maintenance and repairs.
Maintain and document support protocols for systems.
Oversee the procurement of supplies and equipment for security systems.
Take immediate action to direct response and coordination in an emergency repair situation.
Assist with repositioning IP cameras as necessary.
Assist the Director of Safety and Security in gathering forensic information for investigations.
Other duties as assigned.
Availability for overnight and weekend emergencies required.

Minimum of three years of related experience with IT systems required.
Experience with network setup, partitioning of networks, network security and troubleshooting, server setup, optimization, and storage management. Experience with access control software with emphasis on Software House C-Cure including door/panel setup, creating access privileges, enrollments, and database management and maintenance. Experience with video surveillance software with emphasis on Milestone VMS and Axion, including camera setup, user permissions, database management and maintenance and troubleshooting a plus. Familiarity with museum environments and specialized security requirements a plus.
Must be able to manage multiple responsibilities, set priorities, take the initiative, and meet deadlines. Detail oriented. Strong written and oral communication skills. Able to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team in a collaborative environment. Flexible and problem-solving attitude with a customer service orientation. Able to handle sensitive and confidential information. Experience with cultural properties helpful.
