Under supervision, the employee in this position assists the foremen in the installation, repair and operation of fire alarms, clock and bell, public address, scoreboard and other electronic systems on campus. This position provides good customer service to internal and external customers. This position also inspects, designs, constructs, tests and installs components of life safety and access control systems, investigates problems, and reports findings to superintendents or Senior personnel. Other duties include: responding to fire system alarms and other emergencies, inspecting and repairing clock and bell, public address, and scoreboard systems, etc, studying blueprints, taking off materials, and ordering materials; Working Special Events and instructing other employees in the performance of their duties.
Must have a good working knowledge of life safety and access control system operation, repair and installation practices. The ability to solve technical electronic problems, design solutions, fabricate components and instruct others in the installation and repair of electronic systems and components. Specialized training or experience in life safety and fire alarm codes. The ability to read blueprints and determine materials and resources needed to complete projects efficiently and on schedule.
