Advertised Summary Job Description: Reports to the Research Director of the Transplant Clinical Research Center (TCRC). As a member of the TCRC Team, the incumbent will assist the research director, principle investigator(s), and TCRC research staff in the conduct of clinical research trials and studies. Research projects may involve multi-centered cooperative group studies, single site studies, intergroup studies, industry studies, and investigator initiated studies. The individual who holds this position acts in accordance with all local, state, federal and CUMC IRB policies and procedures.
1.Screening procedures of clinical patients for possible study enrollment; 2.Creating and updating a consolidated spreadsheet of upcoming out-patient clinic appointments in the appropriate out-patient clinics serviced by the TCRC; 3.Scheduling hospital tests and procedures in compliance with research billing requirements; 4.Scanning of research documents into patient medical records (i.e., consent forms, central lab results, etc); 5.Perform electronic and paper data entry; 6.Coordinate and assist research coordinators with study visits; 7.Transporting and processing research specimens; 8.Assisting research staff with specimen shipment; 9.Recording meeting minutes at select meetings; 10.Upon completion of required training, the Technician A will participate in an "on-call" rotation system with the additional TCRC research personnel for studies where research procedures are required on weekends or after hours. 11.Performs other related duties necessary to the functioning of the research office.
General Minimum Qualifications: Two years of college or a completed A.A. program with an emphasis in chemistry, biology or physics. One year of related experience, or equivalent in education, training.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: Qualifications for Candidates include but are not limited to the following: 1.Ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff and must have a strong understanding of patient's confidentiality and research processes. 2.Strong knowledge of the Code of Federal Regulations pertaining to Human Subject Protections, including 45CFR46, 21CFR50 and 56, Good Clinical Practice, the Declaration of Helsinki, the Belmont Report and HIPAA, and CUMC policies and procedures. 3.Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. 4.Ability to comprehend verbal and written instructions. 5.Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 6.Ability to work as a team, customer service oriented and have the ability to communicate with a wide range of individuals in a cross functional environment. 7.Ability to work effectively in a complex academic environment. 8.Must have a strong work ethic. 9.Ability to learn and adapt to new techniques.
