Power Plant Electronics Technician
The Power Plant Electronics Technician i nstalls, maintains, calibrates, and repairs all of the electronic controls for the high pressure Fluidized Bed Boiler, three high pressure gas/oil fired boilers, two three thousand ton steam driven chillers, four electric driven chillers, emergency generator, thermal storage system, a computerized data acquisition system, and four computerized emissions monitoring systems. S/he installs and maintains all electrical systems and control circuits associated with this equipment as well as all power and lighting circuits in the plant. Electronic PLC boiler controls five variable frequency drives. The incumbent assists others in maintaining a reliable and safe plant operation. Duties include but are not limited to:
Installs new, maintains, calibrates, and repairs all electronic instrumentation for all power plant equipment.
Reports to maintenance supervisor along with four maintenance mechanics and two control specialists. Works with other crafts and directs others who assist him.
Maintains electric motor control circuits, motors, control logic relays and switches, power distribution panel and emergency power generating equipment.
Installs new, maintains, and repairs all electrical power and lighting circuits.
Calculates electrical loads, wire size and switch ratings for new installations. Electrical inventory and electrical equipment records.
High School Diploma
Three years experience in operation and maintenance of electrical equipment plus one year of experience in maintenance, calibration, and operation of electronic boiler control systems
Understand and be capable of servicing variable frequency drivers
DC Electrical Journeyman license
Must have working knowledge of the basic principals of electricity, electronics, algebraic formulas used in electrical calculations, and some factory training in process control electronic instrumentation
Demonstrate a working knowledge of boiler and combustion control systems. Develop PLC control schemes relating to boiler control
