Maintenance of two-way radio, microwave radio, carrier systems and maintenance of digital remote terminal units, microprocessors, and computer systems.
Must have a satisfactory work record.
Must successfully pass a Background Check
Must successfully complete the Transmission Telecommunications Technician test with 75% or better score.
Must have and maintain or be able to obtain within 180 days a valid Colorado Class 'A' Commercial Driver's License with no air brake restrictions.
Requires successful completion of the apprenticeship training program.
Eight (8) years of combined education and experience in electronic field which consist of:
(a) the equivalent of technical training received in a Associate Degree program in Electronics Engineering Technology with advance studies in radio communications (including microwave) and digital systems (including microprocessors, peripheral equipment, and programming);
(b) six years of practical experience in maintenance of electronic telecommunications and digital systems, which must include one year of practical experience in maintenance of two-way radio, microwave radio, and carrier systems and one year of practical experience in maintenance of digital remote terminal units, microprocessors, and computer systems. Must be capable of satisfactorily interpreting electrical schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams and control logic.
Must have sufficient knowledge and skill in the safe use of electrical and electronic tools.
Must maintain one of the following certificates or be able to obtain one within 365 days:
Federal Communications Commission General Radio Telephone Operator
CISCO CCNA certifications.
Must reside within 60 minutes response time from reporting location.
Must be willing to accept out-of-town work with overnight travel.
Must be willing to work on antenna systems and tower structures at various heights
Must be capable of obtaining and maintaining First Aid and CPR card within 6 months of hire and have the ability to perform First Aid and CPR.
Must be willing and able to work extra and irregular hours as the utility needs may require and willing to work under unusual or special working conditions; storms, extreme temperatures, winds, and darkness, etc.
Must be willing to and able to climb wooden or steel structures and work at various heights.
Must be willing to work in and around high voltages common to the electrical utility industry.
(Must be able to demonstrate the capability of performing all of the performing all essential functions of the job.)
