The Telecommunications, Security, and Surveillance Systems Technician II is responsible for performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of various types of Telecommunications, Security, and Surveillance Systems equipment.
Required Education and Experience:
Associates degree in electronics technology, or certificate of advanced electronics technology training, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Two years of experience in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Telecommunications, Security, and/or Surveillance Systems equipment.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Must be able to work in a collaborative team environment.
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with a diverse range of people.
Must have strong interpersonal skills.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Certification or additional experience in any or all of the following:
CATV installation, Access Control System Installation, DC Plant/ battery maintenance or installation, Surveillance/Security system installation or maintenance.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of how to support CATV, Access Control Systems, DC Plant/ batteries/electrical, Surveillance/Security systems, and cabling.
Preferred License and Registrations:
BICSI ITS Installer 1 or higher, Electrical Certification.
Preferred Other Requirements:
Available for rotating on-call scheduling.
Interpretation of Telecommunications, Security, and Surveillance Systems self-diagnostic information. Operation of various hardware and software diagnostic test equipment. Installation, configuration, and operation of various operating systems. Backup and recovery of data. Install and configure Telecommunications, Security, and Surveillance Systems hardware upgrades. Assisting with troubleshooting of analog circuits to the component level. Assisting with Telecommunications, Security, and Surveillance Systems repairs. Installation of maintenance kits. Test serial, parallel, and network ports. Perform Telecommunications, Security, and Surveillance self-tests and interpret error codes.
Provide project status reports. Develop and maintain good customer and vendor relations. Following vendor warranty procedures. Utilizing departmental inventory control procedures.
Use standard references, resource, procedural materials, and assistance from more senior staff and Telecom Engineers to resolve problems. Develop an understanding of departmental or project quality standards. Develops higher levels of technical skill and knowledge by participating in on-the-job-training, formal education, or other professional development activities. Provide training for student workers.
Participate in training and professional development sessions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
