The Utilities Line Technician Assistant, under supervision, installs and maintains high voltage distribution systems. Completes academic or related trade training which will qualify incumbent to progress to a Utility Line Technician.
Required Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
One year of general electrical or electronic experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Ability to read and comprehend written and oral instructions in English and communicate effectively.
Required Licenses and Certifications:
Must have a valid Texas Class âœBâ Driverâ™s License or the ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
Other Requirements or Other Factors:
Must be able to climb stairs and ladders, stand for extended periods of time, and will frequently be required to lift or move heavy materials.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Electrical experience in an utilities electrical distribution atmosphere.
Salary: $16.04 - $20.61
Receives training and assists in the installation, modification, maintenance, testing, dismantling, and removal of underground and overhead high voltage distribution circuits, and high voltage equipment. This may require driving a university vehicle around campus.
Receives training and assists in the connection, disconnection, and terminations of high and low voltage cables, conductors, electrical devices, transformers, and metering devices. This may require driving a university vehicle around campus.
Participates in skill development in the utilities line technician trade. This will require the successful completion of training and development for Utilities Line Technician.
Receives training and assists working on underground duct line systems or direct buried systems.
Performs other duties as assigned.
