The Assistant Director for Technical Services is an integral part of the daily operation of the Student Center and special events at North Carolina A&T. They are responsible for developing and administering a comprehensive technical and audio visual services program that encompasses the Student Center, Harrison Auditorium, as well as special events in various campus locations. They train, manage, and assign student event staff and Audio Visual Technicians, ensuring adequate event coverage and high-end customer service. The Assistant Director is responsible for maintaining and updating all technical and audio visual systems in the Student Center , Harrison Auditorium, and the University Event Centers AV inventory. The assistant will also provide technical support for events held in and around the two facilities. They serve as a vital member of the Student Center and University Event Center Operations Team, collaborating with other team members to provide an outstanding client experience at all times, as well as administering special projects as needed.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit:
The University Event Center (UEC) serves as the primary contact for all meeting and event planning, scheduling and coordination for on-campus activities at North Carolina A&T State University. The UEC services students and their organizations, faculty and staff, administrative offices, and off-campus entities in the direct scheduling and coordination of various events. The UEC staff works with a number of individuals via computer, phone, fax, and personal contact in the coordination of various events, including conferences, meetings, receptions, retreats, performances, concerts and other major events. Essentially, this office provides logistical support and scheduling for minor and major programs and events. UEC schedules and supports all university programming and facility rentals and strives to provide services and promote programs that are responsive to students' developmental, physical, social, recreational and educational needs.

Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline and one year of experience in the information technology field related to the area of assignment; or bachelor’s degree and one year of experience in the information technology field related to the area of assignment; or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Master's degree in Student Personnel, Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration, Business, Information Technology, or related field and at least three to five years experience in a Student Center, Student Union or University Center environment and/or related student affairs/higher education setting.
Strong technology and/or audio visual experience in a student center/student union or other higher education setting.
Knowledge and understanding of the role of a University Center and/or Student Union.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Proficient computer skills.
Strong organizational skills, documented by prior experience.
Ability to advise, train, and supervise both staff and students. Ability to develop collaborative relationships.
Effective interpersonal and human resource management skills.
Willingness and flexibility to work with students and other professional staff in unstructured situations at variable hours and weekends.
Proven ability to manage and provide leadership for a diverse set of customers, facilities, programs, and services.
Understanding of basic accounting principles and budget development; attentive to detail.
