This position manages all departmental accounts including: state, F&A, trust (including gift and contract) and grant funds. This position processes related deposits, payments and travel reimbursements and reconciles ledgers. This position also reviews and confirms all budgetary commitments coming in to the department and processes, reviews or confirms any budget adjustments and transfers. This position maintains tracking information on all ledgers and provides monthly reports to the department manager and other reports as requested by faculty and/or the Chair. This position works closely with the department manager to ensure that no ledgers are overspent and that all funds are used timely and appropriately. This position will assist with pre-award on grants, especially budget preparation as well as post-award monitoring of grant funding. This position works with department manager, department faculty and other departments to provide funding information to the Student Services Coordinator for student support within the department. In addition, this position works closely with the department manager to ensure proper allocation for faculty course buyout requests, summer pay and accountability for the Instructional Budget and yearly projections. This is a key role in the department and will work closely with the department manager to ensure that the department funds are monitored closely and handled properly within the University, state and federal guidelines.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in accounting work; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Demonstrated general accounting knowledge, including understanding of debits/credits and reconciliation.
Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to review work for accuracy and completeness.
Ability to review and understand accounting policies and procedures.
Ability to work independently and efficiently.
Ability to organize and maintain financial records both electronically and hard copy.
