Our Substation Automation and Protection Department is seeking an individual who can oversee all areas of maintenance and repair of our system protection devices and equipment. This person will also be responsible for administrative duties surrounding compliance and will work with engineers, the operations and maintenance group, SCADA, CIP, asset management, and our Members.
Incumbent will begin position as an assistant supervisor and must be ready to promote to the supervisor role upon completion of training and orientation.

Summary: Supervise the work associated with and including, but not limited to, developing an annual and long-range budget; establishing and updating design criteria; and coordinating the installation, testing, inspection, calibration, and repair of all system protection devices, remote terminal units (RTUs), transducers, and other protection equipment for Sunflower Electric Power Corporation’s and the Members’ electric transmission and distribution systems. Oversee the performance of tasks associated with the maintenance of all automation and protection equipment including North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) compliance or other regulatory compliance requirements and coordinate planning and scheduling of construction and maintenance activities of the protection systems. Interface and assist Members with any system and substation issues.
Top Qualifications: • Associate degree in industrial electrical, instrument and control, or electronics field and ten years substation relaying or construction experience, three of which must be in a leadership or project management capacity. • Bachelor degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited institution and seven years practical utility experience, two of which must be in a leadership or project management capacity is preferred. • Possess demonstrated project team leadership experience relevant to developing, maintaining, and understanding of the regulatory requirements pertaining to operation and maintenance of Sunflower’s protection systems.
