PSE is looking for an individual who is eager to lead and grow our Network and Telecommunications practice area. We are looking for a leader to manage and develop our team of engineers, foster existing client relationships and develop new relationships, and lead key projects including development of Strategic Communication Infrastructure Plans as well as deployment projects.
The practice is responsible for assisting clients with strategy, procurement, design and deployment of many technologies. These technologies include private and leased fiber backbone networks, fiber-to-the-home networks, Ethernet and MPLS network design, electronic and physical cyber-security, NERC CIP regulatory compliance, server and network infrastructure, 6GHz & 11GHz licensed microwave networks, wireless data networks based on many different technologies, land mobile radio systems, and FCC spectrum licensing.
The following are essential responsibilities of this position. The scope and duties of this position may change or be altered based on the business needs of the company.
Team Leadership: Lead and develop the team of engineers, providing vision for the growth of the skills and revenue of the practice area.
Nurture Client Relationships: Develop and maintain relationships with key existing clients who are working with the communications group today. Many clients work with PSE’s communications group for years and the relationship we maintain with them is critical to this success.
Key Project Leadership: Lead projects for clients such as those developing an overall 10-year communications strategy for the utility. Work with PSE engineers to develop a roadmap for the utility and work with the utility to understand their needs well, develop consensus among the utility’s team members and present recommendations to the senior management or board of directors. Perform analysis to evaluate the financial impact of multiple technology recommendations.
Project Management: Work with PSE project coordinators and engineers to manage communications projects being worked on by communications engineers.
Team Loading: Take responsibility for providing project work for the group through existing client relationships and new client relationships.
Proposals: Maintain and update proposal templates for communications projects. Develop the technical scope, resources and cost for communications proposals to clients in response to RFPs or client requests.
Technical Practice Area Development: Work to expand the technical capabilities of the group to enhance the competitiveness of the practice area.
Conferences and Speaking: Attend trade conferences and present at these events.
Client Training & Presentations: Provide presentations to clients to educate them on state of the industry as well as technology recommendations.
Travel: This position will likely travel 1-2 times per month to meet with clients or attend conferences.
The successful candidate must have a combination of education and/or experience totaling 10 years of relevant experience. This should include experience managing and leading technical teams and projects as well as mentoring and developing the skills within the team. It should include experience in building and maintaining customer relationships. Lastly, it should include technical expertise in several of the technologies offered by the communications group.
The ideal candidate will likely have a bachelor’s degree in engineering, IT or communications and possibly a Master of Business Administration degree.
