Purpose of Position
Under general supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, HRL, the Energy Management Technician performs skilled work at the experienced trade level in the maintenance, calibration and repair of Housing heating and cooling equipment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are customary for this position, but are not to be construed as all-inclusive. Duties may beadded, deleted and assigned based on management discretion and institutional needs.
Perform computer work such as e-mails, spreadsheets, word processing, and internet parts research
Calibrate electronic and pneumatic controls, sensors and devices
Monitor daily power usage and status of Housing heating and cooling equipment
Troubleshoot and repair electronic and pneumatic controls, sensors, variable frequency drives, various building automation components, and other control interface devices
Dismantle malfunctioning systems, tests components using meters, gauges and other test equipment
Repair/Replace sensors, thermostats, controllers, control boards, and other control devices
Complete work orders, calibration reports, time sheets and other necessary documentation
In conjunction with Supervisor, coordinate seasonal building system heating and cooling transitions
Monitor Chill Water Plant and Housing equipment on the Metasys
Collect data for Chill Water usage
Schedule and perform chill water meter cleaning and calibrating for all buildings on the system
Coordinate Work Orders and PMs at CWP in conjunction with contracted chiller maintenance service
Assist HVAC Techs with heat and air demand work orders as well as PMs
Coordinate quarterly filter changing in all HRL buildings
Perform duties as assigned for Summer Blitz
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain excellent communication/customer service with Housing Director and all other HRL team members
Communicate bi-laterally with other team members within HRL to coordinate work activities between groups
Perform other duties as required
High School Diploma or GED equivalency
Minimum of two years training in vocational program in HVAC, electronics or electrical
Minimum two years of experience in electrical, electronic, microprocessor controls, HVAC controls or any combination
Must possess and maintain a valid Kentucky driver's license.
