This position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of operating room equipment with a focus on integrated ORs, surgical robotics, video systems, video routing over dedicated and shared (IT) networks and a variety of other OR and ICU medical equipment.REQUIRED--Electronic technician skills including electronic troubleshooting, video systems, complex system troubleshooting, ability to read electronic schematics, perform electronic and electromechanical assembly and repair. --Information technology (IT)/computer skills including extensive network/IP knowledge sufficient to understand the routing of high definition video signals over standard, high performance IP networks.--General knowledge of biomedical instrumentation, including computerized medical systems. --Knowledge of human physiology to a sufficient level as required to understand the equipment being repaired and maintained. --Ability to communicate with staff and vendors regarding equipment issues with both verbal and written communication methods.PREFERRED--BMET Certification (e.g. CBET).--At least three years experience as a BMET.--At least one year BMET experience with OR equipment.--Formal training and/or experience with OR integration.SPECIAL REQUIREMENT--May be required to work alternative shifts at the discretion of department management and with proper notification. May be required to be available on a paid standby basis for emergency repair calls on nights, weekends and holidays. Willing to respond to emergency off-hours repair calls on nights, weekends and holidays. Willing to work overtime for special projects and emergency repairs.
