Mason Talent Temporary Position Pool – Fiscal Technician
The George Mason University Mason Talent Program is looking for an enthusiastic and energetic individual to serve as a part-time, temporary, Fiscal Technician. Assist with the administration of budget and fiscal-related issues—such as ensuring compliance, and the timely submission and processing of expenditure paperwork;
Process faculty and staff purchase requests for equipment, professional services, speakers, rental facilities, lodging, catering, marketing materials, software, conference registrations, memberships, and supplies through the Virginia online, electronic procurement system (eVA);
Work closely with various fiscal services units such as the purchasing office, accounts payable, travel office, and various other financial, administrative, and academic units of Mason;
Aid in budget preparation and analysis;
Prepare ad-hoc reports and special projects;
Maintain detailed records;
Ensure all documentation is kept in accordance with federal/state/university rules and policies;
Process national and international travel authorizations and reimbursements for faculty;
Assist with temporary assignments and verify budget availability; and
Provide administrative support for projects in the office.
Demonstrated experience working in a high-volume, fast-paced office;
Demonstrated experience with budget planning and analysis;
Proven knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP);
Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks accurately under pressure;
Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently;
Ability to handle highly confidential information with discretion and professionalism;
Excellent interpersonal skills and communications skills including the ability to work effectively with, and relate well to, staff and external constituents at all levels of the university;
Extensive experience in executive administrative support; and
Experience with collaboration and communication with diverse individuals with differing needs.
Higher education experience or public workforce;
Experience working with eVa, Ellucian Banner, or other related systems;
Proficient experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint; and
Bachelor's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience highly preferred.
Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.
