Posting Summary: The Center for Diabetes Technology at the University of Virginia seeks PRN Wage Laboratory and Data Technicians to support its research efforts. The incumbents assist the PI by monitoring and troubleshooting a computer system and artificial pancreas during a clinical trial as well as data maintenance, which may involve compiling, coding, categorizing, and storing data in an electronic format. In addition, incumbents will learn how to handle and process lab specimens.
Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent. At least one year of experience in a research or clinical laboratory setting, following specific protocols and procedures as a professional, student, or volunteer is preferred.
This is a part-time wage position and is contingent upon availability of funding.

Required Minimum Level of Experience: None
Preferred Minimum Level of Experience: Some - up to 4 years
Preferred Specific Experience: A minimum of one year of previous experience with clinical research, automated medical systems, and scientific, experimentation, and research techniques. Experience in the use of a centrifuge and YSI Glucose Analyzer is preferred. Prior experience with diabetes devices, android cell phones, and the artificial pancreas is a plus.
