A full-time technician is needed to oversee the Radiogenic Isotope Geochemistry Laboratory at Northwestern University. The laboratory comprises a PicoTrace clean room and a Triton MC-TIMS. The technician will operate, maintain, and repair the TIMS; work in the clean room to prepare samples, spikes, and reagents; participate in method development projects; train students and assist visitors; and maintain records of usage and expenses. Applicants should have a MS or PhD degree in geochemistry, chemistry, or a related field, with a strong background in isotope dilution techniques and ability to troubleshoot and repair electronic and vacuum equipment. Additional familiarity with ICP-OES is preferred.
Operates Triton MC-TIMS
Maintains and repair Triton MC-TIMS
Prepares samples, spikes and reagents in PicoTrace clean room
Participates in method development projects
Trains graduate students and assist visitors in use of Triton MC-TIMS
Maintains records of lab usage and expenses

Successful completion of a full course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a master's degree in geochemistry, chemistry and or related field.
