Job Summary: Under minimum supervision, leads the Biomedical Electronics Technician (BMET) team on preventive maintenance, repair, calibration, testing, troubleshooting, and customer service of all types of clinical equipment technologies, devices, instruments, and systems. Assigns work to other technicians, assesses work priorities, and follows the progression of priorities throughout the workday to the satisfaction of department management and the clinical customers. Provides input and recommendation on the performance improvement process for department operations and customer service. Job Responsibilities: 1. Responsible for preventative maintenance repair, calibration, testing, and troubleshooting of all types of clinical equipment technologies, devices, instruments, and systems. 2. Assigns work requests to BMET technicians. Monitors workflow for priorities and efficiencies. Adjusts priorities periodically throughout each day based on customer needs and discussion with department management. Follows up with customers to ensure timely and satisfactory completion of work requests. 3. Contacts vendors to resolve problems with equipment operation; arranges for repair and parts replacement; recommends equipment purchases and standardization to management. 4. Develops and maintains good working relationship with clinical customers. 5. Participates and contributes to department quality assurance, employee satisfaction. and process improvement efforts. 6. Assists technicians with complex issues. 7. Periodically reviews department database to ensure that data entries for repair and routine maintenance are being completed in a timely manner. 8. Ensures accurate and efficient maintenance of department records and reports. Physical Requirements:
Considerable walking, and some moderate lifting, pushing, bending required. Good hand/eye coordination for delicate electronic repairs. Work Environment:
Possible exposure to ionizing radiation and chemicals, and chemical fumes. Protective clothing and safe work practices are required when appropriate. On-Call:
May be required to participate in after hours on-call responsibilities
Associate of Science Degree in Electronic/Biomedical Electronics or related field; a combination of experience and education is acceptable. Prefer B.S. degree in Electrical/Biomedical Engineering.
C.B.E.T. Certification or comparable level of training and experience.
Five (5) years related experience as BMET in a large medical center.
Basic IT/Network training and experience with Networked Clinical.
Must demonstrate advanced knowledge of electronic troubleshooting techniques and use of test equipment.
Must demonstrate knowledge of biomedical equipment systems and function of those systems in clinical application.
Highly knowledgeable of industry standards and regulations
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
