Under direction, assists in surgical recovery of tissues for transplantation, research and medical education. Works in conjunction and under the supervision of the On-call Tissue Coordinator.
Duties include pre-operative prepping of donors, establishing and maintaining sterile fields, obtaining blood specimens, recovery and packaging of tissues, correctly documenting recovery in Lifesharing's electronic medical records system, terminal cleaning of instruments and work area at the completion of surgery and restocking of recovery supplies. Shares on-call responsibilities during weekdays, weekends and holidays.
Two (2) years of applicable Sterile field experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Graduation from college with a major in an applicable natural science; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to work with cadavers.
Previous experience in the Tissue or Organ recovery industry.
Completion of a ER Technologist or Surgical Technologist program.
Completion of an EMT program.
CEBT and/or CTBS certifications.
Be able to pass a background clearance check with the County of San Diego.
Ability to work variable shifts and locations as required.
