NMR Probe R&D Technician
Use your knowledge of mechanical engineering to assist the NMR Probe Engineering staff with assembling and testing prototype assemblies in a preproduction environment. The position involves handling of small parts and involves assembling fragile objects in space constrained geometries.
Specific duties include:
Assist the NMR Probe Engineering staff by building and testing protype assemblies in a pre-production environment. This involves assembling current JEOL products as well as assembling future products.
Document assembly and testing procedures for transfer to other groups.
Use your knowledge of basic machine tools for prototyping and production work
Utilize your experience with CAD software to create 2D drawings to convert to 3D models using standard CAD packages.
Maintain working knowledge of new technologies and develop recommendations to improve operations
Interact with vendors to provide them with documentation, material, and quality items that are outsourced or turnkey related
Associate's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university; post high school technical training or equivalent vocational technical knowledge; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Solid mechanical understanding; ability to analyze, evaluate, and assess complex and interactive mechanical components.
Ability to read, update, and create 2D drawings to convert to 3D models
Experience with a major CAD package (Inventor, PTC Creo, Solidworks) is desired.
Experience with radio frequency, cryogenic or vacuum equipment is a plus.
Experience using basic machine tools for prototyping and production: milling/engraving machines, lathe, drill press, band saw and soldering.
