Brown University Computing and Information Services seeks a qualified IT Service Center Technician to provide technical support for faculty, students and staff within the areas of the CIS Help Desk and the Computing Accounts and Passwords.
As an IT Service Center Technician, this position is part of a team which provides technical advice, guidance and information training to the user community for both general and in-depth technical issues via phone, chat, email and in person on a variety of computer hardware, software, peripherals, mobile devices and other electronic equipment to the Brown community. A strong emphasis of this position is working with the Computing Accounts and Password group that includes managing the creation, modification and deletion of electronic services and administrative accounts. This position must also adhere to and enforce all electronic IT security protocols with all users within the Brown Community. This position requires working outside the standard business hours as needed.
Bachelorâ™s degree or equivalent related job experience required
1 to 3 years of Help Desk experience or equivalent environment
Knowledge of Mac, PC and mobile devices including applications such as Google Apps, Filemaker, IT Ticketing system
Experience with desktop computing support; proven ability to problem-solve, understand and troubleshoot first-level technical issues
Excellent customer service skills
Excellent written and oral communications
Excellent organizational skills; attention to details
Ability to multitask is required
Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Strong computing, analytical, and organizational skills
