This position reports directly to the KIPE Director of Operations and is responsible for coordination of the grant proposal development process from inception through submission. Providing support with budget and submission in RAMSeS. If the proposal is funded this position provides administrative and financial management of all sponsored research grants, contracts and gifts within KFBS, KIPE, and the Small Business Technology Development Center. This is done by reviewing all expenses both personnel and non-personnel for compliance with the award documents and federal guidelines; managing internal management budgets via a shadow system for each grant and gift award. These shadow system budgets are to be reconciled monthly using information from Infoporte, IT Works or KFBS Financial Services reports. The Grants Manager will provide financial updates and projected costs to the Project Principal Investigator at least monthly or as requested. The incumbent also maintains electronic files of all documents and correspondence relating relating to grants, contracts and gifts; completes Notice of Termination Replies in RAMSeS for all sponsored research awards and makes sure that the closeout of awards goes smoothly and all reports, both financial and programmatic, are submitted in a timely manner.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in accounting work; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Experience with Grants, preferably both pre and post award. This position is the main contact and processor of all grant proposals and manages grants from a wide variety of sponsors for multiple Principal Investigators. Sponsors include Federal Grants, Foundations, Private Companies and non-profits. This position requires experience and knowledge in accounting principles, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook are used on a daily basis. Excellent writing and communication skills as well as the ability to problem solve are needed. Candidate must be detail oriented, with an emphasis on accuracy and efficiency. The ideal candidate should be extremely detail oriented, organized, self-motivated and able to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
Completion of either the Tar Heel Certification Program for Research Administrators or a similar certification. Preference given to those with experience in these UNC systems: RAMSeS, Connect Carolina, Infoporte, Web Travel, ALICE.
