Essential Functions: 1.Perform independent and directed activities including experimental design, data collection, antimicrobial susceptibility, organism population analysis testing and molecular testing including the performance and development of organism molecular studies such as:a.PCRb.Serial Passagec.Sequencing/bioinformaticsd.Cloning & bacterial transformatione.Protein and Small Molecule purification2.Maintain research records including methods and procedures 3.Assist in the preparation of Human Investigation Research Applications and record keeping.4.Maintain and assist the research students, fellows and staff with experimental design and laboratory activities5.Assist with the ordering/accounting and tracking of all laboratory supplies and equipment6.Assist in the laboratory training of research fellows, research assistants, technicians and students7.Assist with the supervision of research assistants, technicians and students 8.Maintain/update electronic records and cataloging of all bacterial isolates, susceptibility and molecular results for ongoing projects including multi-center projects involving phenotypic screening, susceptibility and molecular testing of clinical bacterial isolates.9.Maintain safety records and assist personnel with appropriate University required safety certification10.Perform antimicrobial in vitro time kill assessment and assist in PK/PD model experiments11.Perform drug assays (HPLC, bioassays, etc.)12.Perform routine data evaluation including statistical analysis13.Assist in the preparation and submission of data for scientific presentation and publication14.Assist with the preparation and submission of grant applications15.Assist and prepare research annual reports including the documentation of grant submissions, grant awards, abstracts, publications and presentations16.Assist with scheduling and routine communications with research and educational grant sponsors including the generation and documentation of expense reports
Qualifications: 1.Master's or Doctoral degree in Microbiology or allied science field2.Previous experience in microbiology/molecular biology research environment highly desired. Experience in recombinant genetics, pharmacology, genome sequence analysis, bioreactor modeling and protein purification 3.Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks4.Excellent organization skills and attention to detail to oversee study progress5.Strong computer skills, data management, familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
