Posting Summary: The Division of Allergy and Immunology is seeking a Research Technician to work in the lab of Dr. Thomas Platts-Mills. This position involves extensive work with assays measuring isotype specific antibodies to food and inhalant allergens. In addition, the candidate will conduct ELISA assays and indirect immunofluorescence to evaluate immunity to antigens from Ehrlichia, Rickettsia, and other tick-borne organisms. The incumbent will also be responsible for establishing and maintaining records and databases of samples from patients in several ongoing research studies. They will also perform literature searches and present at local scientific meetings.
Minimum of two years of laboratory experience (may include student experience). Bachelor's degree in Science may substitute for required experience. Bachelor's degree is required. Preferred Experience: Running an Phadia ImmunoCAP 250 machine.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 1.Understanding of routine laboratory procedures related to assays, microscopy, and simple analytic techniques and database management. 2.Familiarity with clinical research trials and their regulatory requirements. 3.Ability to adapt and be flexible in response to evolving research findings. 4.Ability to work well with other lab personnel within the division. 5.Ability to work independently, but also understand the need to work as a team. 6.Ability to work accurately with attention to detail. 7.Careful documentation of lab work. 8.Good communication skills both electronic and interpersonal. 9.Strong organizational skills. 10.Cognizant of a daily safe work environment including safety trainings and certifications.
