Designs, implements and maintains an enterprise voice, wireless and data network for both the administrative, research and residential segments of BGSU’s campuses that ensures enough bandwidth as to fulfill the university’s mission.
Essential Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities
Design & implement the University data network (wired and wireless) including but not limited to switches, routers, WLC’s, AP’s, UPS’s and network monitoring gear
Design, implement, and constantly maintain University voice system including a redundant phone switch, voicemail system, multiple call centers, e911, 911 dispatch, PRI’s, BRI’s, IP and analog phones, data circuits, and departmental phone billings.
Implement network topology changes for the installation of firewalls. Implement and regularly review router ACL’s. Configure and maintain IP camera’s for security systems. Maintain and install new nodes on the fire alarm system.
Professional interaction with students, faculty and staff.
Daily troubleshooting of voice, wireless and data networking issues.
Ongoing training of the end users, student employees and one’s self is part of the job.
Continually update network and voice documentation to reflect changes as well as create new documentation.

TCP/IP, including routing protocols, DHCP, and DNS.
Multicast streaming configuration
Telephone (PBX) configuration and support
Ethernet switch and router configuration, installation, and support
Wireless LAN design, installation, configuration, and support
Wireless access points
Full-time administrative staff position. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Administrative pay grade I55. Full benefits package available.

Bachelor's Degree required preferably in Computer Science, MIS, Electronics, or a degree in a comparable Technology field of study. Also required three to four years of hands-on network management experience. This includes network switch and router and wireless access point configuration, equipment installation, troubleshooting or end user support. One to two years of physical cabling plant installation and maintenance, including copper and fiber optic cable installation, termination, or testing. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and comply with the university’s vehicle use policy.
