Full-time position in the Department of Science, with the following responsibilities:
Teach the equivalent of five sections each semester from the Department's biology course offerings which include Human Anatomy & Physiology and related courses with laboratories.
Serve as academic advisor to approximately 18 students.
Hold a minimum of four office hours per week.
Serve on department and college committees.
Actively participate in the department's development, implementation, evaluation and assessment of curriculum, courses and programs.
Work with the department's laboratory technician to coordinate inventory, supplies and laboratory setup.
Bachelor's degree in biology, and master's degree in biology or closely-related field (such as human physiology, molecular biology, genetics), both degrees from an accredited institution.
Demonstrated commitment to quality college-level teaching in biology at the freshman and sophomore level.
Demonstrated understanding of biology at the molecular and organismal level, including an understanding of molecular processes and interactions.
Commitment to the community college philosophy.
Ability to thrive in a dynamic teaching/learning community requiring flexibility, adaptability, and teamwork.
Record of excellence in college-level teaching, curriculum and program development, outcomes assessment, and maintaining a learner-centered environment.
Knowledge of and successful experience utilizing innovative instructional strategies that support student success and recognize diverse learning styles and abilities including learning communities, interdisciplinary courses, paired courses, project-based learning, and experiential learning.
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to working with students and colleagues.
Ability to meet the challenges of a broad curriculum and a student body with diverse abilities, interests and backgrounds.
Potential to make significant contributions to curriculum development.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:
Ph.D. in biology or biological science field (such as human physiology, molecular biology, genetics, pathology) from an accredited institution.
COMPENSATION: Average salary range of $44,874 to $65,428. Actual salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and consistent with the MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Includes participation in a comprehensive employee benefits program.
