Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist Payroll Accountant with research, review, and data collection for the manual check process, including verbal and/or written communication with departmental representatives for error resolution. Oversee off-cycle check distribution process. Create off-cycle checks in the absence of the Payroll Accountant.
Assist in research and data collection necessary to make all payroll adjustments. This may require the use of mathematical skills to calculate under and overpayments, tax and benefit reimbursements, and manual leave payouts. Aid in research and coding of prior period payments and distribution to Payroll Processors. Assist in the overpayment collection process including written and/or verbal communication with payees, making calculations for repayment via payroll deduction, and entry into the payroll system.
Perform research, data collection and analysis of information as requested by campus departments and employees, as well as outside vendors in need of Employment Verification. Use problem-solving skills daily to address common questions and issues of University employees, including but not limited to: location of missing paychecks and managing Stop Pay/Reissue process when necessary, identifying issues with timesheet entry, and managing W-2 reprints and distribution. Maintain records retention system including archival of physical files. Scan and/or index documents into searchable, electronic filing system when needed.
