General Description: This position is: to provide the Division of Biology with timely, competent, cost effective design, support and repair of complex laboratory instrumentation systems.
The person in this position works closely with... Technical Manager, Electronics Technician II, Electronic Technician I, faculty, staff, and students.
The qualified candidate will provide...electronics and electrical knowledge required. Ability to read and design electrical/electronic and mechanical schematics. Must have knowledge and understanding of optical theory. Ability to repair and calibrate complex research instrumentation. Requires excellent problem solving skills. Excellent communication, organization and management skills. Strong leadership abilities. Computer skills and knowledge.
Responsibilities / Duties: The candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the electronics shop including but not limited to delegation of duties, scheduling, providing technical assistance. Repair, calibration and design of scientific instrumentation.
The candidate provides expertise in repair of laboratory instrumentation systems including but not limited to Microscopy, Chromatography, Spectroscopy, Centrifugation, Water Purification, Patient Monitoring, Balances/Scales, Biological Safety Cabinets, CO2 Incubators, Ovens, Furnaces, Shakers, Electronic Pipettes, Micro-tome/Cryostats, Gel Documentation, Syringe Pumps, Peristaltic Pumps, Autoclaves, Environmental Chambers, Electronic Controllers, X-Ray Generators, Bioreactors, PH meters, Water Baths etc.
The candidate assist the technical manager with task such as but not limited to faculty request and building management.
The candidate designs and develops new instrumentation and updates existing instrumentation as needed.
